Donald Trump is scared to take on Elon Musk, according to his former White House aide Alyssa Farah Griffin—and she says there’s one big reason why.
“This is what Donald Trump is afraid of,” Griffin told a CNN panel Thursday, after Musk went nuclear on the former president. Musk isn’t just lobbing insults—he’s threatening Trump’s entire political future.
It all exploded when Musk reposted a tweet that said: “President vs Elon. Who wins? My money’s on Elon. Trump should be impeached and JD Vance should replace him.” Musk’s response? “Yes.”
That wasn’t just a jab. It was a declaration of war.
Griffin didn’t hold back. “I’ve had bad breakups, but this is wild,” she said. She pointed out that Musk hit Trump from every angle—suggesting he’s tied to Jeffrey Epstein, predicting he’ll cause a recession, and now calling him a weak president.
But the line that stung the most? Musk mocking Trump’s time left in office: “He’s going to be here for three and a half years, I’m here for 40 years.”
“That is what Donald Trump is afraid of,” Griffin said. “If this bill doesn’t get over the threshold and end up passing, it’s his entire legislative agenda.”
She was talking about Trump’s push to extend the GOP’s tax cuts, a key part of his plan. Musk is openly trashing the bill, saying it’s fiscally reckless. And with his massive fortune and online influence, Republicans are listening.
“Members of Congress on Capitol Hill… if you’re up in these midterms, you really don’t want to get crosswise with Elon Musk,” Griffin said. “He’s willing to spend basically endlessly in your district if you support this bill.”
That’s the fear Trump now faces. It’s not just about the feud—it’s about power. Musk has money, reach, and staying power. Trump knows it. And that’s what makes him nervous.
