Trump Fires Off Desperate Message To Pence Ahead Of Congress Certification Of Electoral College

President Donald Trump Wednesday took to Twitter to beg Vice President Mike Pence to “come through for us” while peddling conspiracy theories about the election and claiming that Pence can “decertify” the Electoral College vote.

“If Vice President @Mike_Pence comes through for us, we will win the Presidency,” Trump wrote on Twitter Wednesday morning. “Many States want to decertify the mistake they made in certifying incorrect & even fraudulent numbers in a process NOT approved by their State Legislatures (which it must be). Mike can send it back!” he added.

The president’s tweet comes hours before a joint session of Congress will meet to certify the electoral college results and affirm Joe Biden as the next President of the United States.

It also comes as his staunchest Republican allies are set to launch a public and futile effort to keep him in power by overturning his election loss.

Trump’s allegations of rampant voter fraud have been debunked by the states and rejected by the courts. But that hasn’t stopped more than 100 GOP loyalists in the House and Senate from backing his bid to toss out the vote tallies of states he lost.

The extraordinary gambit has convulsed the Capitol in the final days of Trump’s reign and cleaved the GOP into warring factions — divisions that will bear long-lasting implications for both the future direction of the Republican Party and the success of the ambitious figures scrambling to lead it into a post-Trump era.
