Donald Trump on Sunday went on a paranoid diatribe on his social media site Truth Social about the FBI “paying people to get him” and bragging about “the Trump Quicksand.”
The former president started off by unleashing a furious attack on CBS’s “60 Minutes” over a segment about the false claims made by Trump and his allies about Dominion Voting Systems and the conspiracy theory that it colluded with late Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez to steal the 2020 election. The former president also accused the FBI of plotting against him.
“’60 Minutes’ is not a News Show, it is a Democrat propaganda machine,” Trump wrote. “Their story last night on Election Fraud was a JOKE! The evidence is massive, not to even mention that State Legislatures did not grant necessary approvals, the FBI paid people to, essentially, ‘get Trump,’ and then told Facebook and others that the Laptop from Hell was Russian disinformation, when they knew it was not – and much more.”
Trump also attacked some of his own former administration officials for purportedly not doing enough to keep him in power even after he lost the election to President Joe Biden.
Moments later, he returned to Truth Social to post a bizarre question to his followers.
“Who is going to enter the Trump Quicksand?” he began. “Many have tried, leaving permanently damaged, or never to be heard from again!”
It is unclear what Trump talking about and to whom he is referring.
But given the mounting legal problems and recent subpoena by the January 6 committee he is facing, it appears he was boasting that his past adversaries have been “permanently damaged” politically.
In his next post, the former president wrote:
“Fake News CNN, on the low-rated Jake Tapper show, just stated that I control 30% of the Republican Party. I don’t want to control anything, but if they are going to use numbers, at least use the right ones, try 90%. Perhaps they should also mention that close to 100% of the people I Endorsed in the Republican Primaries WON…Unprecedented numbers!”
