Donald Trump unleashed a furious tirade against ex-Vice President Dick Cheney and his daughter, former Rep. Liz Cheney, after both endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 election. Trump branded both Cheneys as “irrelevant RINOs” and took a swipe at Dick Cheney’s legacy, suggesting his involvement in war crimes.
In his furious diatribe, Trump also accused former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of being responsible for the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot, claiming that Pelosi’s failure to ensure adequate security allowed his supporters, whom he incited to disrupt the certification of the election, to breach the Capitol.
Just hours after Cheney condemned Trump as a “threat” to the nation and declared his support for the Democratic ticket, Trump struck back on Truth Social with a blistering statement:
“Dick Cheney is an irrelevant RINO, along with his daughter, who lost by the largest margin in the History of Congressional Races! They couldn’t get Scooter Libby, who did so much for them (but was so unfairly treated!), PARDONED. I did it! He’s the King of Endless, Nonsensical Wars, wasting Lives and Trillions of Dollars, just like Comrade Kamala Harris,” Trump ranted.
“I am the Peace President, and only I will stop World War III! What Liz Cheney did with the Unselect Committee of Political Losers is unthinkable,” he declared. “She and her Unselects deleted and destroyed all evidence and information – IT’S GONE. Much of it proved that Nancy Pelosi was responsible for J6 – DIDN’T PROVIDE SECURITY. Cheney and the others should be prosecuted for what they did, but Comrade Kamala is even worse!”
In response, Dick Cheney released a scathing statement late Friday, calling Trump an unprecedented danger to democracy.
“In our nation’s 248-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump,” Cheney wrote. “He tried to steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him. He can never be trusted with power again. “As citizens, we each have a duty to put country above partisanship to defend our Constitution. That is why I will be casting my vote for Vice President Kamala Harris.”
Liz Cheney, who was ousted from her House seat in a 2022 GOP primary, also voiced her support for Harris on Thursday.
