Former President Donald Trump has taken to Truth Social to complain about his ongoing legal troubles, specifically targeting Vice President Kamala Harris over his campaign difficulties. He claims that Harris is exploiting his felony conviction in his hush-money case to undermine his presidential bid.
In a recent post, Trump expressed frustration over the gag order imposed by a New York judge, labeling it as excessively harsh and politically motivated.
“Can anybody believe that I am still under a harsh Gag Order, placed on me by a Highly Conflicted, Unelected, and Acting New York Judge,” Trump wrote on Friday, “which makes it very difficult to Campaign, especially when Crazy Kamala Harris is using this Witch Hunt against me.”
The gag order, stemming from Trump’s conviction in May for falsifying business records related to a hush money payment to adult film actor Stormy Daniels, has been a point of contention. On Thursday, a New York appeals court denied Trump’s lawyers’ bid to lift the gag order. Although Judge Juan Merchan has slightly eased the restrictions, allowing Trump to comment publicly on witnesses and juries, he remains barred from attacking the case’s prosecutors.
Despite the limitations, Trump has continued to criticize Judge Merchan and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, while the gag order prevents him from directly targeting the prosecutors and his family. Democrats have used Trump’s felony convictions in their campaign materials, and that, according to trump, unfairly hampers his ability to campaign.
Trump has denounced the case as a “scam” and a “hoax,” asserting that the judge’s actions are politically motivated to aid President Biden and Harris.
“Story after story has been written that the Judge had no right to do what he did, that it was a political decision against the Opponent of Crooked Joe Biden and Crazy Kamala,” he wrote.
No evidence has connected President Biden or Vice President Harris to Trump’s New York legal issues. Trump has also argued that the case should be dismissed based on the Supreme Court’s presidential immunity ruling, which protects presidents from criminal prosecution related to official acts. The hush money payments occurred during his 2016 presidential campaign.
“The Gag Order should be voided at once and, based on the Immunity Decision just handed down by the United States Supreme Court, and for many other reasons,” Trump concluded, “this case should be IMMEDIATELY terminated!
