Trump Could Be Forced Out If Democrats Sweep Midterms, top Strategist Says

Donald Trump’s presidency could end early if Democrats sweep the midterms, veteran Democratic strategist James Carville says.

In an expletive-laden appearance on the Politicon YouTube channel, Carville laid out what he sees as a straight-line scenario: Democrats win the House and Senate, unleash investigations, and crank the pressure until Trump folds. The whole thing, he suggests, ends with a resignation.

“The Democrats are going to investigate you to no end,” Carville said in remarks featured in. “Then they’re going to go after your stupid, jacka** kids and their spouses.”

That’s not subtle — and it’s not meant to be. Carville’s argument hinges on political gravity. If Democrats control Congress, the investigative floodgates open. He didn’t spell out specific crimes, but the implication was clear: scrutiny alone could become overwhelming.

He also veered into foreign policy, warning Trump about the ongoing conflict involving Iran. “When it comes to the stuff you’re doing in Iran, I got to tell you, you’re getting really, really, really, close to war crimes here. You’re probably gonna cross the line,” Carville said.

That warning comes as human rights groups report staggering civilian casualties tied to U.S.-Israeli airstrikes — nearly 1,500 civilians killed between late February and late March, including at least 217 children, according to findings cited in.

The White House didn’t just brush Carville off — it went straight for the jugular. Spokesman Davis Ingle fired back, calling him “a stone-cold loser who clearly suffers from a severe and debilitating case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has rotted his peanut-sized brain.”

Still, Carville is betting on history — and escalation. Trump has already been impeached twice, both times when Democrats held the House. First in 2019 over Ukraine, then again in 2021 tied to January 6. The Senate acquitted him both times.

But Carville thinks the sequel could end differently.

“Don’t be surprised if the number 67 doesn’t get real because…these Republican senators, they can’t stand you,” he said, pointing to the two-thirds threshold needed for conviction. According to Carville, GOP loyalty is transactional — and temporary.

He argues that once political winds shift, so will Republican senators. “Because of the politics back in their states,” they support Trump now, he said — but that won’t last if he becomes a liability.

Carville’s bottom line is blunt: pressure from congressional probes plus civil legal threats could push Trump to cut a deal and walk away.

“You’re going to figure out, ‘I got to get the hell out of here.’ And you’re going to cut a deal, and you’re going to resign,” he said.

And then what? Carville says Vice President JD Vance steps in — and likely wipes the slate clean with a pardon.

Trump, for his part, has already sounded the alarm. Speaking to Republicans earlier this year, he warned that losing the midterms would hand Democrats the power to impeach him again.

This time, Carville thinks it wouldn’t stop there.
