As Florida grapples with the devastation left by Hurricane Ian, Donald Trump took to social media to plead for donations to his political campaign.
Speaking in a video on Wednesday from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Trump asked supporters to send money to his Save America PAC.
“We have a major fundraising deadline coming up and there’s never been a time like this,” Trump said before claiming that America had “never been so disrespected” by the world.
“There’s never been a time like this,” he said. “Our country has never been so disrespected. Our country has never been so low, certainly in the minds of others, and especially the leaders of other countries all over the world. We have to change it. We have to bring our country back. We made America great, and now we’re going to have to make America great again.”
“So I say whatever you can do to help out, we have to meet the deadline the midterms are coming up. It’s got to be one of the most important elections and the history of our country. So I hope you can help them and help out.” Trump pleaded. “We really appreciate it and good luck.”
The latest grift from the former president comes as rescue and recovery efforts began following the deadliest storm to ever hit Florida.
It also comes as Trump faces multiple lawsuits and increasing legal bills.
