Donald Trump’s approval rating has plunged to a new low, according to a fresh poll—and his handling of the escalating Iran war is dragging him down even further.

A new survey from the University of Massachusetts Amherst shows just 33 percent of Americans approve of Trump’s job performance, while a crushing 62 percent disapprove. More than half of those critics say they strongly disapprove, underscoring deepening frustration with his presidency.

The numbers mark a steady decline. Trump’s approval stood at 44 percent last April and 38 percent in July in the same poll—suggesting a downward slide that has only accelerated amid mounting crises at home and abroad.

Nowhere is that dissatisfaction clearer than on Iran. Just 29 percent of respondents said they support Trump’s handling of the conflict, while 63 percent disapprove. The war, launched with joint U.S.-Israeli strikes in February, has spiraled into a prolonged and costly standoff—with more than 50,000 U.S. troops now in the region and the threat of a ground invasion still looming.

As the conflict drags on, the consequences are hitting Americans where it hurts: their wallets. Gas prices have surged to nearly $4 a gallon, oil markets have spiked, and the cost of everything from flights to fertilizer is climbing—fueling widespread economic anxiety.

It’s no surprise, then, that Trump’s weakest numbers come on inflation. Just 24 percent of Americans say he’s handling it well, while a staggering 71 percent say he’s doing a poor job.

Despite the turmoil, about a third of Americans still identify with Trump’s MAGA movement—including a dominant share of Republicans. But beyond that base, the president appears to be losing ground fast.
