The crowd couldn’t hold back their laughter when President Donald Trump claimed he hadn’t made any mistakes during his first 100 days in office.
At a NewsNation town hall on Wednesday night, hosted by Chris Cuomo, Bill O’Reilly, and Stephen A. Smith, Trump faced a pointed question from the audience — and gave an answer that set off the room.
O’Reilly read a question submitted by audience member Lee Shapiro: “What’s the biggest mistake you think you’ve made in your first 100 days?”
Trump didn’t hesitate: “I’ll tell you, that’s the toughest question I could have because I don’t really believe I’ve made mistakes,” he said.
That response triggered loud laughter from the audience, which included Republicans, Democrats, and independents. Some couldn’t believe what they were hearing.
“I think Lee is reassured,” O’Reilly joked, adding to the moment.
Trump went on, shifting the conversation to the economy.
“We’re in a transition period. I think you’re going to see tremendous economic victories over the next period of a year, like far greater than ever imagined,” he said.
He blamed trade deals for lost money and promised major wins ahead.
“Right now, as I said, we’re losing billions and billions of dollars on trade. We’re gonna make millions and billions of dollars, but it takes a little while. That doesn’t happen overnight, but it will happen much faster than people understand,” Trump added.
Much of the town hall focused on concerns about the economy and the impact of Trump’s tariff wars, with several audience members expressing worry about a possible recession.
But it was Trump’s refusal to name a single mistake that drew the biggest reaction. Watch the clip below via NewsNation.
