A gang of thieves entered a Home Depot store in Lakewood, California, on Friday night and left with hammers, crowbars and other tools, CNN reports, citing local authorities.
The theft took place at approximately 8 p.m. local time in Lakewood, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Deputy Miguel Meza said and it came just minutes after at least 30 people stormed a Best Buy store in Burnsville, Minnesota, and stole a wide range of electronics, the news network reported.
No one was injured and no weapons were drawn during both incidents, police say.
The incidents come as a number of smash-and-grab robberies at high-end stores have been reported in several major US cities this month.
On Monday, at least 18 people broke into a Nordstrom department store in Los Angeles Monday night and stole thousands of dollars in merchandise, the city’s police chief said, according to CNN.
Similar crimes have been reported in the San Francisco Bay Area, Chicago, and other cities.
It is unclear whether the two robberies are connected.
