Following Donald Trump’s first debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski did not hold back in their critique of the former president’s performance. The morning after the debate, Scarborough and Brzezinski were visibly stunned by Trump’s erratic behavior and incoherence.
As they aired clips of Trump’s bizarre comments about immigrants supposedly stealing and consuming pets—comments that left Harris visibly astonished—Scarborough launched a fierce critique of the former president.
Scarborough pointedly remarked that Trump’s performance, coupled with Harris receiving an endorsement from pop icon Taylor Swift, signaled “the beginning of the end” for Trump’s campaign. He described Trump as “completely unhinged, just completely off his rocker,” noting his appearance as “bad,” “old,” and “disconnected from reality.”
Scarborough criticized Trump’s repeated, nonsensical statements, attributing them to a lack of preparation and a reliance on debunked internet rumors. He labeled Trump as “one of the most ill-prepared presidential candidates” ever seen in a debate, characterizing him as “one of the angriest.”

He further described Trump’s physical demeanor as “hunched over” with “squinting eyes,” and emphasized that the split-screen comparison with Harris was striking. Scarborough insisted that, regardless of network bias or attempts to downplay the debate’s significance, “there is no sane-washing this and there is no normalizing” Trump’s performance. “There is no pretending that this was any other candidate, this is any other election, or that was any other debate.”
