Donald Trump has finally opened up about why he ended his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein — and it wasn’t because of the scandals everyone assumed.
Speaking on Monday in Scotland with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump was asked why he kicked Epstein out of his Palm Beach club, Mar-a-Lago.
“That’s such old history,” Trump said. “Very easy to explain, but I don’t want to waste your time by explaining it.”
But then he did.
“For years, I wouldn’t talk to Jeffrey Epstein … because he did something that was inappropriate,” Trump said. “He hired help. And I said ‘Don’t ever do that again.’ He stole people that worked for me. I said, ‘Don’t never do that again.’ He did it again. And I threw him out of the place, persona non grata. I threw him out, and that was it.”
According to Trump, Epstein crossed a clear line by trying to steal his staff — and that was the moment he cut him off for good.
Trump then shifted to talking about others connected to Epstein, saying, “Clinton went to the island 28 times. I never had the privilege of going to his island. And I did turn it down. But a lot of people in Palm Beach were invited to his island. In one of my very good moments, I turned it down. I didn’t want to go to his island.”
Until now, Trump’s team hadn’t said much about the fallout. But last week, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung said: “The fact is that The President kicked him out of his club for being a creep.”
