Michael Lofthouse, who was caught on video going off on a racist tirade against an Asian American family at a restaurant, has resigned as CEO and cut all business ties with his San Francisco-based tech company Solid8, according to Fox Business News.
“It is with regret that my initial statement and apology did not go far enough in addressing my behavior in Carmel last weekend and the steps that I need to take,” Lofthouse said in a statement to Fox Business this weekend.
“I can confirm that I have stepped down from Solid8, terminating all business relationships with immediate effect,” he told the news outlet.
Lofthouse’s resignation comes days after a video surfaced showing him making racist comments to an Asian family.
In the video, he could be seen sitting at a table alone, telling the family, “Trump’s gonna f— you” after flipping his middle finger at them.
“You f—ers need to leave… F—ing Asian piece of shit,” he also tells the family.
Moments later, Lofthouse could be seen leaving the restaurant after being told to exit by staff.
“You do not talk to our guests like that,” an employee could be heard telling him.
Days before he announced his resignation on Saturday, Lofthouse issued a public apology and said the incident “was clearly a moment where I lost control.”
“I was taught to respect people of all races, and I will take the time to reflect on my actions and work to better understand the inequality that so many of those around me face every day,” he also said.
However, his apology wasn’t enough for some who have questioned his sincerity.
