On Tuesday, Taylor Swift announced her endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential election, ending speculation about her political stance.
In an Instagram post following Harris’ debate with former President Donald Trump, Swift encouraged her followers to research the candidates’ policies and make informed decisions. She shared her commitment to transparency after discovering AI-generated images falsely endorsing Trump, expressing concern about misinformation.
Swift praised Harris for her dedication to key issues and highlighted her choice of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as a running mate. She emphasized Harris’ steady leadership and Walz’s long-standing advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights, reproductive health, and women’s rights.
Swift’s post also included a reminder for first-time voters to register and consider early voting, with links to registration and voting information provided in her story.
In her message, Swift playfully referred to herself as a “childless cat lady,” a nod to remarks made by Sen. JD Vance, Trump’s running mate, who used the term to criticize Democrats. Swift has been vocal about her political views since the 2018 midterms and expressed regret in her 2020 documentary “Miss Americana” for not speaking out sooner.
Swift’s endorsement aligns with her ongoing support for Democratic policies and candidates. Her fans, organized as “Swifties for Kamala,” have actively supported Harris and raised significant funds in her campaign.
Previously, Swift had endorsed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the 2020 election and has continued to advocate for political engagement and progressive causes.
