Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine has won her reelection bid, narrowing the chances for Democrats to flip the Senate, CNN reports.
“Just now I spoke with Senator Collins. I congratulated her on winning this election,” Democratic candidate Sara Gideon said in a concession speech Wednesday afternoon.
She also tweeted “I’m proud of the campaign we ran, regardless of the result.”
Collins faced a tight race and her win makes the Democrats’ path to gain control of the Senate more difficult.
