In an apparent message of solidarity with Ukraine, three Russian cosmonauts have arrived at the International Space Station, all wearing the colors of the Ukrainian flag.

Cosmonauts Oleg Artemyev —The Soyuz capsule carrying Commander— as well as Denis Matveev and Sergey Korsakov docked at the orbiting platform three hours after takeoff.

It’s the first new arrival to the International Space Station (ISS) since Russia invaded Ukraine.

The crew departed wearing white uniforms. But as the docking procedure was completed, the trio emerged wearing the distinctive yellow and blue colors associated with Ukraine.

Once in the main capsule, Artemyev was asked about the suits, and he said: “It became our turn to pick a color.”
