U.S. Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling (Ret.) on Wednesday reacted to Republican Sen. Mike Lee’s meltdown during the impeachment trial of Donald Trump, criticizing Lee for having his priorities misplaced.
Lee sparked chaos on the Senate floor when he demanded that the presiding judge, Senate President Pro Tempore Patrick Leahy (D-VT), strike from the record testimony from House impeachment manager Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX), who quoted him about a phone call he received from then-President Donald Trump during the violent riot at the Capitol on January 6th.
During his presentation, Castro had noted that Lee, after mistakenly being called by Trump while trying to reach Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), put him through — something reported by several news outlets.
Lt. Gen. Hertling responded to Lee’s tantrum in a tweet, saying: “The world and America would be a better place if @SenMikeLee put as much emotion into insurrection as he does into being misquoted,” wrote Hertling.
Ahhh…the world and America would be a better place if @SenMikeLee put as much emotion into insurrection as he does into being misquoted.
