Putin Bombs Ukrainian Pre-School And An Orphanage As Killing Of Children Intensifies

On the fifth day of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Vladimir Putin’s forces dropped cluster bombs on a pre-school and an orphanage in Ukraine, killing a child and two adults and wounding a second child, Amnesty International said.

The human rights organization is calling the shelling of the Sonechko nursery and kindergarten in the city of Okhtyrka, in northeastern Ukraine a war crime.

“It is stomach-turning to see an indiscriminate attack on a nursery and kindergarten where civilians are seeking safe haven,” Agnès Callamard, secretary general of Amnesty said, according to The independent.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba reported early on Friday afternoon that there had been Russian attacks on both a kindergarten and an orphanage. He also pointed out that these are war crimes and stated and that they were collecting information about all such crimes for the International Criminal Court at the Hague.

Another schoolgirl was shot dead in Kyiv by Russian forces, the Independent reported.

The girl, named Polina, is believed to have been nine or ten years old, was in her final year of primary school. She was killed along with her mother and father when Russian troops opened fire on their family car, according to Kyiv’s local authority.
