President Joe Biden is reportedly set to ban Russian oil imports, toughening the toll on Russia’s economy in retaliation for its invasion of Ukraine, Bloomberg News reports.
Citing a White House source, Bloomberg reported that Biden was set to announce the move as soon as Tuesday
The move comes a day after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to U.S. and Western officials to cut off the imports, which had been a glaring omission in the massive sanctions put in place on Russia over the invasion.
According to the report, the United States generally imports about 100,000 barrels a day from Russia, only about 5% of Russia’s crude oil exports.
