MSNBC anchors Jen Psaki and Lawrence O’Donnell couldn’t hide their laughter Tuesday night after President Donald Trump boasted about taking a cognitive test at Walter Reed Medical Center. The test reportedly asked Trump to sketch a clock, identify animals in photos, and repeat a short list of words—tasks the president apparently found worthy of national attention.
“Donald Trump was feeling extra proud of himself yesterday because he passed a really difficult test, one that he bragged had some very hard questions. Questions like, name these animals and draw a clock. Good job, Mr. President!” Psaki quipped, setting the tone for a segment filled with incredulity and amusement.
She added, “For his part, House Speaker Mike Johnson held a press conference earlier [Tuesday] where he rattled through a litany of accusations against a certain former president, seemingly completely unaware of just how close to home his critiques were hitting.” The segment then cut to a split-screen video juxtaposing Johnson’s remarks with Trump’s actions and behaviors.
“Maybe someone needs to ask Mike Johnson to name a few animals, maybe,” Psaki teased before handing off to O’Donnell.
O’Donnell joined in, joking, “Hey, Jen, I haven’t taken any What Animal Is That questions lately. I don’t remember them being too tough whenever I did take them, that’s for sure.”
“Me neither. We could pass those with flying colors, I’m fairly certain, but we wouldn’t be given them so frequently, I don’t think, either,” Psaki added, barely containing her laughter.
“You’re seeing madness at work every day down there!” O’Donnell exclaimed.
“No question about it!” Psaki agreed, as both anchors laughed at the absurdity of the moment.
