Mika Brzezinski, host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” didn’t hold back on Friday, branding former President Donald Trump an “aging bullsh*t artist” and a “hateful, racist, bigoted, tired narcissist” following his controversial speech at the Detroit Economic Club. Her explosive commentary had the studio in laughter, but the message was anything but lighthearted.
Trump’s remarks, which hinted at a dystopian future under a Democratic administration, drew particular ire. He suggested that a Kamala Harris victory would turn the entire country into a “Detroit”—a city he has long disparaged. His speech also included bewildering comments about inflation and a rambling praise for Elon Musk’s SpaceX, leaving many viewers scratching their heads.
In a fiery response, Brzezinski cut through the nonsense. “I mean, I wouldn’t even call that the weave. I would not grace that with the phrase word salad. That just made no sense,” Brzezinski declared. “And I just don’t understand anybody right now who could watch him talk and say, ‘yeah, he definitely makes more sense than the alternative.’”
She expressed frustration over pundits criticizing Harris, questioning their logic when faced with Trump’s muddled rhetoric.
“Like, all these people, I was watching the news yesterday, flipping around, and hearing hosts whining, ‘Kamala Harris needs to do more.’ Okay, more than everything she’s doing? Fine, give me your ideas. But what? I mean, watch the alternative for two minutes: ‘Grocery’? ‘The stomach is speaking’? Elon’s rocket ships. ‘Cylinders, circles, beautiful circles.’ What the hell?”, the host continued.
Brzezinski turned to MSNBC contributor Symone Sanders-Townsend, who noted the racial undertones in Trump’s comments. “He thought he was speaking to white business owners, trashing Detroit without a second thought,” Sanders-Townsend said.
But Brzezinski was far from finished: “Let me tell you something, there is something wrong with people who can watch that and think the alternative, Kamala Harris, isn’t more articulate, more prepared, more experienced, more able to… and when I say articulate, that means can actually deliver a message to the American people on a certain policy. You know she can.”
She emphasized that there’s no escaping the truth of Trump’s divisive rhetoric: “If you can’t believe it, and this is your choice, you’re lying to yourself. You’re going to ruin this country. That’s — it’s going to be on you. It’s going to be on you. There’s no way you can watch that or any of his speeches and get anything out of it except for a hateful, racist, bigoted, tired, aging, branding – I wouldn’t say genius – branding-obsessed narcissist.”
