Michigan Man With Fake INTERPOL Badge And Body Armor Arrested Outside US Capitol

US Capitol Police officers on Friday arrested a retired police officer with unlawful possession of high-capacity magazines and unregistered ammunition, authorities said.

The man, Jerome Felipe of Michigan was taken into custody around 5 a.m. ET Friday. He had parked his 2017 Dodge Charger near the Capitol and allowed officers to search it, CNN reported, citing a statement from the USCP.

Felipe, 53, presented officers with a fake badge with the words “Department of the INTERPOL” printed on it, and told officers he was a criminal investigator with the agency, the agency said in the statement.

In addition to the ammunition, Felipe had in his possession a “BB gun, two ballistic vests, several high capacity magazines, and other ammunition in the car,” the statement said.

The incident is under further investigation.
