Melania Trump has stepped into the Mother’s Day market with a new necklace priced at a whopping $245 amidst her husband’s escalating legal battles. This move adds to the Trump family’s trend of capitalizing on retail ventures, following Donald Trump’s recent forays into selling everything from high-top trainers to special editions of the Bible.
Dubbed “Her Love & Gratitude,” Melania’s necklace, made from gold vermeil, boasts a flower pendant with heart-shaped petals and an adjustable 16-18 inch chain. It’s customizable with engravings of names, initials, or significant dates, available on her personal website.
In a statement released Sunday, Melania emphasized the importance of motherhood, saying, “Being a mother is one of the most important roles in life,” framing the necklace as a token of appreciation for all mothers.
“Being a mother is one of the most important roles in life,” she added. “For this Mother’s Day, I have designed the ‘Her Love & Gratitude’ necklace to express immense gratitude and honor all mothers.”
Adding an extra incentive for buyers, each purchase comes with a limited-edition digital collectible.
Donald Trump, the former luxury real estate magnate and reality TV host, is familiar with retail opportunities, having previously endorsed various products, from condos to steaks and diplomas of questionable authenticity. Recently, he has expanded his portfolio to include digital trading cards, golden high-top trainers, cologne, and a $60 “God Bless the USA” edition of the Bible, alongside launching his social media company, Trump Media and Technology, on the Nasdaq exchange to support his campaign finances.
Despite Melania’s limited involvement in her husband’s campaign activities this election year, she appeared at a fundraiser at their Mar-a-Lago estate to support the Log Cabin Republicans LGBT+ group.
The launch of the necklace coincided with the release of the latest filings from the US Federal Election Commission (FEC), revealing that Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential candidate, had to pull back spending in March, with a staggering three-quarters of funds raised going towards legal expenses.
Donald Trump faces a slew of legal challenges, including being fined $83.3 million for sexual assault and and defamation, and $355 million (plus over $100 million in interest) in another trial after the Trump Organization was found liable for fraud. Trump is appealing the verdicts in both New York cases while also facing indictments in Florida, Georgia, and Washington, DC.
While Melania’s necklace launch may offer a brief distraction, the Trump family’s penchant for grifting remains under the spotlight as their legal woes continue to mount.
