In a jaw-dropping podcast episode that’s now gaining national attention, MAGA pastor Brian Sauvé openly called for the execution of “rebellious” Black men—citing the Bible as justification.
Sauvé, who co-hosts The King’s Hall podcast with fellow Christian nationalist preacher Eric Conn, invoked Deuteronomy 21 during the discussion, suggesting that state authorities should enact laws modeled after the Old Testament command to kill disobedient children. Yes, seriously.
Right Wing Watch reported Monday that during the episode, Sauvé made a direct connection between biblical law and Black men, referencing “ghetto culture” and saying its participants should be subject to execution by the state.
“If you take that and then you took a law like Deuteronomy 21, which is a just law that got enacted through Moses,” Sauvé said, “the law was that if you had a rebellious son, you have a child who’s coming up into their manhood and they’re rebellious, they don’t listen—he lists some characteristics—and even though they’re disciplined, they will not turn, he says the father is to bring them out into the town square, this is a rebellious son, and then they stone him to death. They kill him.”
This isn’t just theological musing. Sauvé explicitly framed these statements as policy ideas—something he believes lawmakers should actually consider in order to “usher in the change over time of that culture.”
Conn then chimed in to clarify exactly who they believe qualifies for such treatment: “Armed robber.”
Sauvé didn’t hesitate: “Armed robber, all the ghetto culture; basically, take ghetto culture, it would describe this to a T. If you did that over three generations, how much violent crime would you have in the third and fourth generation? Much, much less.”
This isn’t obscure hate speech from some fringe Facebook page—Sauvé and Conn are both pastors at Refuge Church in Ogden, Utah, where they preach regularly and enjoy growing influence in Christian nationalist circles. And now, they’re casually discussing the state execution of Black men, using Old Testament law as a blueprint for modern governance.
The Deuteronomy 21 passage they reference—often cited by fire-and-brimstone preachers to promote harsh discipline—reads: “If someone has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him… all the men of his town are to stone him to death.”
That’s what Sauvé wants to see put into law.
If you’re wondering how this kind of violent, racialized theocracy fits into the broader MAGA movement—look no further than the growing popularity of “biblical law” rhetoric among right-wing influencers. It’s not new, but the volume is rising. And now, it’s not just about abortion bans or school prayer. It’s about stoning people to death in the public square.
Black Americans already live under the shadow of a criminal justice system steeped in racial disparity. But to hear a pastor in 2025 advocate for state-sanctioned executions of “rebellious” Black men under the guise of biblical justice? That hits a different, chilling level.
This isn’t religious freedom. This is state-sponsored terror dressed in scripture.
