Donald Trump supporters are voicing their discontent after right-wing podcaster Joe Rogan offered unexpected praise for Kamala Harris’s debate performance against Trump last week. On his podcast episode released Monday, recorded shortly after the debate, Rogan commended Harris and her campaign for their impressive strategy.
“Whoever’s helping her, whoever’s coaching her, whoever’s the puppet master running the strings—you did a f***ing amazing job,” Rogan said. “They did an amazing job, from the moment Biden drops out, forcing Biden to drop out. Whatever they’re doing, whoever‘s writing those speeches, getting her to deliver them, coaching her, she’s nailing it.”
In the September 11 episode with comedian Tom Segura, Rogan likened Harris’s debate prowess to a skilled martial artist outmaneuvering an opponent, and he criticized Trump’s preparation. Rogan mocked Trump’s focus on issues like crowd size and controversial theories, suggesting he was ill-prepared for the debate.
“He’s not working with a team,” Rogan remarked. “I know he’s doing mock debates. He did one with Tulsi Gabbard. Someone needs to tell him, you’ve got these tiny little windows, and you should have all the words ready for those windows. There should be no repeating things.”
Rogan, who boasts a substantial audience of over 14 million, described Trump’s humor as “comic-like,” but argued that such traits aren’t necessarily what voters want in a president.
“We don’t necessarily want that as the guy with his finger on the button, that’s all it is,” Rogan added. “That’s the thing that freaks people out.”
Regarding the 2024 election, Rogan has expressed admiration for Robert F. Kennedy Jr., although he stopped short of a formal endorsement.
In response to Rogan’s comments, Trump took to Truth Social in August, speculating about the reception Rogan might face at his next UFC event. “It will be interesting to see how loudly Joe Rogan gets BOOED the next time he enters the UFC Ring???” Trump wrote.
During the 2020 election, Rogan had initially leaned towards Bernie Sanders before later expressing support for Trump over Biden. Snap polls have shown that voters perceived Harris as the debate’s winner, maintaining a nearly three-point lead in national poll averages.
Trump, meanwhile, has claimed the debate was “rigged” but insists he won. “We won the debate. We had a terrible, a terrible network,” he told Fox News, hinting that a rematch with Harris might be on the horizon.
Rogan’s praise for Harris has not been well received by MAGA supporters, many of whom have taken to social media to accuse him of selling out.
