A simple bilingual post from House Republicans has set off a firestorm among MAGA loyalists — and they’re fuming.

The post, shared on X (formerly Twitter), said, “House Republicans believe in every American’s potential to thrive by embracing the power of work,” followed by the same message in Spanish. As noted by The Daily Beast, that was enough to send some on the far right into meltdown mode.

“This a joke, @HouseGOP?” fumed Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX). “We’re in America. We represent Americans. We don’t pander in foreign languages. Speak English.”

The backlash was immediate and loud. Some MAGA diehards questioned whether the account had been hacked. Others demanded firings. And many pointed to former President Donald Trump’s recent executive order, signed in March, that made English the official language of the United States.

“What the hell is the GOP doing?” blasted Laura Loomer, a far-right activist with Trump’s ear. “President Trump has literally signed English language executive orders.”

Bo French, GOP chair in Tarrant County, Texas, piled on: “What the holy hell is this? Why isn’t this all in English?”

Some conservatives were so confused they asked X’s built-in AI, Grok, whether Trump had really made English the country’s official language. The AI confirmed it, stating: “Yes, President Trump signed an Executive Order on March 1, 2025, designating English as the official U.S. language…”

But not everyone saw the issue the same way. Bianca Gracia, co-founder of Latinos for America, responded to the uproar, saying, “Guys, you do realize that almost 50% of Hispanics voted for Trump!!! Although we speak English, some still like to read and speak Spanish. This just shows that we haven’t forgotten the Spanish Speaking audience out there and recognizing them. At least they did English and Spanish. They could have just posted in Spanish. Everyone calm down…..”

Still, for many in MAGA world, the damage was done. One Spanish sentence was all it took to spark a culture war inside the GOP.
