Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is facing backlash after suggesting that US schools should be flooded with armed military veterans —many of whom suffer from TPSD— to enhance security following the mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, last week.
In a thread posted to his Twitter account, Graham wrote that the U.S. has “hundreds of thousands” of former military members “who could bring a lot to the table” in protecting schools.
“It is time to mobilize our retired and former service members who are willing to help secure our schools,” Graham wrote. “Our schools are soft targets. They contain our most valuable possession – our children, the future of our country – and must be protected.”
Graham’s comments reflect a GOP-led push to change the narrative to security in schools instead of gun control legislation proposed by Democrats and gun control advocates.
His remarks were met with harsh criticism from Twitter users:
We have hundreds of thousands of well-trained former military members who could bring a lot to the table in terms of school security.
ROTC instructors with firearms training should be allowed to possess weapons to enhance school security.

We have already seen trained, armed security officers completely fail to prevent or halt a school mass shooting.
Multiple times.
In fact, there hasn't been a single success yet.
Please stop proposing that we just keep repeating deadly failures.https://t.co/DMpt3xjTvE

Most of the deaths occur in the first minute. You could have a Seal team on standby in the gym and it would barely make a dent.
If you are not ready to talk access then you are not serious.

Read for yourself why that's a bad idea, Lindsey. A retired military leader speaks out:https://t.co/1zVUea8xnf

@LindseyGrahamSC is an ass kissing, fart smelling, spineless piece of excrement! He lost his way when he became indoctrinated into the #Cult45 #GQP #ComplicitCorruptGOP https://t.co/AgNoc26YVO

I should not be expected to guard a school just because you don't have the GUTS to do something constructive about limiting access to firearms.
When I served, that weapon was not mine. It belonged to the country.
Get real Graham.
And don't use us to bail yourself out.

Stop it. There was security at Parkland. There was a whole school police force in Uvalde! Just to name a few.
What's making kids die isn't lack of security guards. It's guns. Weapons of war that NO American needs for shooting raccoons, deer, or home invaders.#CommonSenseGunLaws

What about Supermarket safety? Church safety? Shopping Mall safety? Doctor’s Office safety? Funeral Safety? Subway safety? Concert safety? #SensibleGunLaws Stop with the distractions and diversions. It’s an easy access to weapons of war issue.

Stopping 18 years olds from obtaining assault weapons also eliminates them using them in mass school shootings. Members of your party claim the AR-15 is used for feral pigs that destroy property. 18 year olds don’t typically own property so that argument falls short.

Or you could watch how other countries have dealt with these massshootings.
Bur then those checks from the NRA would stop.
I see where you struggle.
