Rev. Al Sharpton had the “Morning Joe” panel in stitches when he took aim at Donald Trump, who was caught on camera in a golf cart disparaging President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
In response to media pressure on Biden following a challenging debate performance, Sharpton suggested a more relaxed approach. He questioned why reporters overlooked Trump’s flood of falsehoods during the same debate.
Sharpton then referenced a video of Trump in a golf cart, where he remarked, “I got him out of the — and that means we have Kamala,” before deriding Biden as a “broken-down pile of c–p” and describing Harris as “so bad” yet potentially a stronger opponent.
In a sharp retort, Sharpton reflected on the historical treatment of elderly Republican presidents like Ronald Reagan and Dwight Eisenhower, who managed health challenges while in office.
“It really is amazing when you look at the history of how Republicans managed an elderly [Ronald] Reagan, how they managed [Dwight] Eisenhower, who had a [heart] attack while he was president,” he explained to host Scarborough.
“He was a Republican, and now they’re trying to make the country think there is such a panic on what we don’t know about Biden,” he continued. “We still don’t know if it was a bad night or if it was something else. I think he’s earned a right with his achievements and his accomplishments as president, for us to give him at least a couple of weeks to really decide what he is doing and to come forth.”
Referencing an upcoming interview with Biden on ABC that will be broadcast Friday evening, he quipped, “We’ll see what happens with [George ] Stephanopoulos. We’ll see what happens with the press conference they wanted the next morning, immediately, for him to start running relay races to prove something when their guy is sitting on a golf cart looking like the Dunkin Doughboy, cursing every other word.”
His comparison to the “Dunkin’ Doughboy” elicited laughter from Scarborough and the rest of the panelists, who could be heard off-screen.
