‘Just Bad Stuff All Around’: Trump’s Poll Numbers Collapse ‘Across the Board’

President Donald Trump just got hit with one of worst polls in his political career, according to a new national survey from Quinnipiac University. CNN’s chief data analyst Harry Enten didn’t mince words in his reaction, calling the results “just horrible across the board.”

“This is definitely one of Trump’s worst polls,” Enten said in a blunt post on X, formerly Twitter. “Just bad stuff all around.”

He was reacting to a new Quinnipiac University national poll released Wednesday that shows Trump underwater on nearly every major issue — and with voters overall.

Only 38% of registered voters approve of how Trump is handling his job, while a crushing 54% disapprove. Even worse, just 40% have a favorable opinion of him, compared to 53% who view him unfavorably.

But the collapse goes far beyond personal approval. Voters are rejecting Trump’s policies issue by issue.

Trump is underwater on virtually every key issue measured in the poll. A majority of voters disapprove of his handling of immigration, deportations, the economy, trade, the nation’s universities, and both the Israel-Hamas and Russia-Ukraine conflicts. His worst numbers come on foreign policy, where just 34 percent of voters approve of his approach to the war in Ukraine, while 57 percent disapprove.

“As the Russia-Ukraine war grinds through its third year, Americans make it clear they have little appetite for the way the Trump administration is handling the situation,” said Quinnipiac polling analyst Tim Malloy.

One of the biggest political blows in the poll comes from Trump’s signature tax and spending proposal — the so-called One Big Beautiful Bill Act. While the president is pushing Congress to pass it by July 4, voters are clearly not on board. Fifty-three percent of respondents oppose the bill, while only 27 percent support it. Even among Republicans, support for the legislation is far from unanimous, with only 67 percent in favor and 22 percent declining to give an opinion. Among independents, 57 percent oppose the bill. Democrats overwhelmingly reject it by an 89 to 2 percent margin.

The poll also shows a sharp divide between the Trump agenda and voter sentiment on health care. On the issue of Medicaid, 47 percent of voters say they want federal funding increased, while only 10 percent want to see cuts. Even among Republican voters, a significant chunk — 21 percent — support increased funding for the program.

“With Medicaid’s future as a healthcare safety net for millions suddenly uncertain, voters make it clear they want the 60-year-old program for those in need to be handled with care,” Malloy said.

Across every major issue — domestic and foreign, personal and policy — Trump’s numbers are slipping. “It’s a mess. As Harry Enten said — “just bad stuff all around.”
