On her MSNBC show Friday night, former White House press secretary Jen Psaki slipped back into her old role — this time to torch Trump’s new press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, with a scathing mock briefing.
“I have noticed the White House briefing room has taken a bit of a bizarro turn lately,” Psaki said Friday night. “And I figured, what the hell, it’s a Friday night. Why not dust off the cobwebs and field a few questions from the White House press briefing room today? Because it’s been a while.”
Standing in front of a White House backdrop, Psaki delivered real answers to real questions reporters had asked earlier that day — but stripped of what she called “the usual MAGA spin.”
One question hit on Trump’s premature announcement of a trade deal with the UK — a deal that wasn’t actually finished. Her answer was blunt.
“The announcement and the headlines it generates are pretty much the point,” she said. “The details are kind of secondary. I mean, Trump gets to put on a show in the Oval Office and pretend like he’s achieved a monumental victory. The deal is just a bit of an empty shell.”
Psaki, who served under President Biden from 2021 to 2022, made it clear she thinks the current Trump-era press shop is more about optics than facts. Her mock briefing wasn’t just comedy — it was a pointed rebuke of how far she believes the White House has slipped under Leavitt’s watch.
