Donald Trump reportedly dishearten as his chauffeured SUV traversed Lower Manhattan on Monday morning, en route to the beginning of opening arguments in his first criminal trial. As reported by the New York Times, Trump has consistently framed his legal predicament “as a threat to the nation itself, and he has suggested that the country would not put up with it.” However, the vicinity of the courthouse on Monday exhibited a distinct lack of commotion. Trump encountered a relatively tranquil scene around the courthouse, with few of his supporters gathered in the park outnumbered by a sea of detractors waving signs referencing his alleged involvement with a porn star.
After Mika Brzezinski shared details from the report, Scarborough reminisced about Trump’s history of inflating crowd sizes when faced with poor turnout reports during his presidency.
Further commenting, Scarborough remarked that Trump’s trial involving hush money is exacerbating his agitation.
“It’s driving him up the wall,” Scarborough said. “Every aspect seems to be working against him. He’s compelled to spend his days in court.”
Scarborough proceeded to highlight Fox News’ defense of Trump, citing their contention that the former president is too old to be compelled to endure eight-hour courtroom sessions.
“I thought it was fascinating last night on Fox News, you actually had Fox News hosts complaining that he was too old — he’s a 77-year-old man — who would make a 77-year-old sit down all day?”
He quipped, “That’s what a lot of 77-year-old men do, they sit down all day,” he quipped. “They watch the Atlanta Braves. I know, my dad was one of them. But a lot of people sit down all day. He’s just going crazy and, to add insult to injury, of course, he’s been outnumbered by people that are having, you know — his supporters are outnumbered by people that are holding up signs talking about porn stars and time in prison.”
