Donald Trump’s new social media network “Truth Social” launched on Sunday after a terrible, really bad news-filled week for the former President. And just like many other businesses started by Trump, the rollout was a complete disaster.
The botched launch of the App prompted Devin Nunes, the former Republican congressman-turned-CEO of Trump Media & Technology Group, to scramble to put out the firestorm.
Nunes said he hopes to have all of the problems in the service fixed and have the new app “fully operational by the end of March,” The Daily Beast reported.
Soon after going live on Apple’s App Store, the Trump-created Twitter alternative glitched out, noted the Daily Beast. “Would-be users immediately ran into glitches and error messages. Around 11 p.m. ET, select users who tried to create accounts were repeatedly met with a red error warning: ‘Something went wrong. Please try again.’ Shortly thereafter, around midnight, others were told that the app was simply too popular for them to join it, with a warning that read: ‘Due to massive demand, we have placed you on our waitlist.'”
Reacting to the apparent bugs crippling the launch of Trump’s so-called social network, GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger issued the following prediction:
“Social media sadly thrives on conflict. #truthsocial (which is ironically named) will be boring and fail, because it will be all Trump-fed drones,” Kinzinger wrote. “BUT, please don’t come back to real social media if you left for Trump and Nunes great idea. You get your one shot,” the Illinois Republican added.
