In a shocking outburst during a speech in Wisconsin, Donald Trump launched a blistering attack on Vice President Kamala Harris, accusing her of the brutal murder of Rachel Morin, a Maryland mother who was murdered by an illegal immigrant.

“By the way, I’m outraged that she let in the savage who raped and murdered Rachel Morin,” Trump declared, before carelessly switching pronouns between the victim and her assailant. “Kamala let her in. Let her in. She murdered him. In my opinion, Kamala murdered him just like she did—just like she had a gun in her hand.”

Morin, a mother of five, was found dead in August 2023 along a trail in Harford County, Maryland. After a 10-month nationwide manhunt, the murder suspect, 23-year-old Victor Hernandez Martinez, was arrested at a bar in Oklahoma.

Authorities revealed that Martinez, who had crossed into the U.S. illegally from El Salvador, had a violent past that included fleeing his home country after allegedly killing a woman and assaulting a child in Los Angeles.

The gruesome details of Morin’s murder have intensified the already heated immigration debate, with Trump exploiting the tragedy for political gain. He has positioned Harris at the center of this narrative, absurdly blaming her for the actions of a criminal.

In response to Trump’s incendiary rhetoric, social media erupted with backlash, with many users highlighting his blatant hypocrisy. Critics pointed out that his administration’s immigration policies failed to prevent such tragedies, noting that he obstructed a bipartisan bill aimed at securing the border to weaponize the issue against his opponents.

Trump’s reckless accusations and the ensuing public outrage underline a crucial point: politicizing tragedy is a dangerous game, and the real issues at stake are far more complex than his simplistic narrative suggests.
