A Wisconsin brewery just threw gasoline on an already blazing culture war, promising “free beer, all day long” on the day “he” dies — and the internet has erupted.
The promotion in question was posted to Facebook last week by Minocqua Brewing Company in northern Wisconsin. The post read: “Free beer, all day long, the day he dies. Show us this post when it happens in a few months and we’ll make good on that promise.”
The company didn’t name Donald Trump explicitly, but thousands of commenters immediately assumed that’s who “he” referred to, and many cheered the idea online. One commenter even joked that plans would depend on the weather: if Trump dies in summer, the celebration will be held at the Minocqua Taproom; otherwise, at the Madison location.
Minocqua’s owner, Kirk Bangstad, leans into the controversy. In comments to Fox News Digital, he said he’d welcome anyone to a celebration of the “impending death of a twice-impeached convicted felon” whose career he accuses of enabling an “American Gestapo” to kill protesters. His one caveat? “No red hats allowed.”
Beyond this promotion, the brewery has voiced opposition to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and openly supported a federal government shutdown to curb ICE funding — a stance that was widely cheered on social media.
The internet reaction has been a free-for-all. Some right-wing social posts called the brewery’s stunt morbid and tasteless, while left-leaning threads celebrated the idea, Fox News reports.
Minocqua Brewing Company has become symbolic of how hyper-polarized America’s cultural landscape has become — where even a beer promo can feel like a political grenade.
