In Peak Irony, White House Accuses Democrats of Hiding Epstein Files They Want Released

In a move dripping with irony, the White House is now pointing fingers at Democrats for allegedly keeping secrets about Jeffrey Epstein—despite Democrats being the ones pushing to release the files.

The drama unfolded after President Donald Trump reversed course and encouraged Republicans to support a House petition calling for the Department of Justice to make the Epstein files public.

“House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files, because we have nothing to hide, and it’s time to move on from this Democrat Hoax perpetrated by Radical Left Lunatics in order to deflect from the Great Success of the Republican Party,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Sunday.

Just days earlier, Trump had slammed Republicans backing Rep. Thomas Massie’s (R-KY) discharge petition, calling them “stupid” and “foolish.” But as soon as it became clear Republicans were lining up behind Massie, Trump shifted his stance.

By Monday, the White House communications team had launched a counteroffensive, turning the blame squarely on Democrats. An article on the White House website asked: “Where Is Democrats’ Transparency on Epstein?” and demanded, “Why haven’t Democrats shown the same transparency — and what else are they hiding?”

The piece called out Democratic figures with historical ties to Epstein:

“Why aren’t Democrats talking about the fact that former President Bill Clinton traveled on Epstein’s aircraft 26 times?”

“Why aren’t Democrats talking about the fact that Democrat so-called ‘journalist’ Katie Couric had dinner at Epstein’s residence after he was already a convicted sex offender who had served jail time?”

“Why aren’t Democrats talking about the fact that the Democrat National Committee refused to return $32,000 in donations from Epstein?”

The article also mentions contributions Epstein made to Democratic Del. Stacey Plaskett of the U.S. Virgin Islands, asserting that, “It’s time for Democrats to answer for their longstanding ties to Epstein. Then, we can get back to what matters to the American people.”

Meanwhile, questions about Trump’s own connections to Epstein remain unresolved. Last week, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt dodged when asked if Trump had spent “hours” at Epstein’s home with a sex-trafficking victim.

“This is another distraction campaign by the Democrats and the liberal media, and it’s why I’m being asked questions about Epstein instead of the government reopening because of Republicans and President Trump,” Leavitt said.

The administration’s current messaging attempts to paint Democrats as the problem, not Trump—despite the fact that Democrats have consistently pushed for the release of the Epstein files. The irony is hard to miss.
