Donald Trump took to Twitter on Monday to complain that the media is not reporting how well the country is doing with the coronavirus pandemic.
Trump claimed that he deserves credit for the mortality rate of the virus going down and even tried to celebrate it on Twitter.
“Why does the Lamestream Fake News Media REFUSE to say that China Virus deaths are down 39%, and that we now have the lowest Fatality (Mortality) Rate in the World. They just can’t stand that we are doing so well for our Country!” Trump tweeted.

Unfortunately, as research shows, there’s a lagging rate for the mortality rate for coronavirus. This means that while cases are now spiking, we won’t see the death rate go higher until later.
Scientifically and medically speaking, first come the positive test results signaling an increase in COVID-19 cases. Then some of those who test positive get bad symptoms. Some are asymptomatic. And some will die, which is when the mortality rate increases as a lagging indicator.

Trump’s tweet also comes as the U.S. passes over 3 million total cases. It wasn’t but four months ago that Trump claimed it would soon go down to zero.
