Fox News host Laura Ingraham, a staunch supporter of President Trump, urged her viewers to ignore the falling stock markets and trust Trump’s economic policies, insisting they are good for business.
Ingraham’s remarks came after a brutal week for the stock market, triggered by Trump’s aggressive tariff policies. The drastic move sent shockwaves through global markets, sparking fears of an all-out trade war.
“Just ignore the sky-is-falling reports and the regime press,” Ingraham told her audience on The Ingraham Angle Wednesday night. “Tune out the breathless hysteria about market swings because even the most die-hard globalists know Trump is good for business.”
But just two days before her comments, the U.S. stock markets suffered a major blow. The Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged nearly 900 points by Monday’s close, with one point falling over 1,000 points — one of the worst market days in history.
Trump’s tariffs continued to impact markets worldwide, causing stocks in China, Japan, and Australia to fall. Japan’s Nikkei 225 index dropped by 2%, and South Korea’s Kospi fell by 3%.
On Wednesday, Trump’s 25% tariffs on foreign steel and aluminum took effect, causing the European Union and Canada to announce their own retaliatory tariffs.
Despite worries about a possible recession, Ingraham argued that Trump’s economic policies were still beneficial: “President Trump is fighting 24/7 for America.”
