Hackers linked to Iran say they’ve stolen 100 gigabytes of emails from people close to Donald Trump — and the contents could be explosive.

The group, calling themselves “Robert,” told Reuters they accessed emails from high-level Trump insiders, including Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Trump attorney Lindsey Halligan, longtime ally Roger Stone, and Stormy Daniels, the adult film actress Trump allegedly paid off to stay silent before the 2016 election.

According to The Daily Beast, some of the stolen emails reveal settlement talks between Trump and Daniels, as well as details about a financial agreement between Trump and lawyers tied to RFK Jr., who now serves as Trump’s health secretary.

Reuters says it has verified parts of the leak.

Trump’s 2024 conviction in New York was directly tied to the Daniels payment. Prosecutors argued he falsified financial records to cover up the hush money, leading to the first-ever criminal conviction of a former U.S. president. Trump didn’t face prison time, but the conviction remains.

The hackers have hinted they may sell the stolen data to undisclosed buyers. It’s unclear who they’ve contacted.

The Trump administration responded quickly. FBI Director Kash Patel said, “The FBI takes all threats against the president, his staff, and our cybersecurity with the utmost seriousness.”

Marci McCarthy, head of cybersecurity public affairs, called the hack a smear attempt: “This so-called cyber ‘attack’ is nothing more than digital propaganda, and the targets are no coincidence. This is a calculated smear campaign meant to damage President Trump and discredit honorable public servants who serve our country with distinction.”

Iran has been tied to past cyberattacks on U.S. political targets. In 2024, the country was accused of trying to breach Trump campaign systems.

Now, with a massive cache of private emails in play — including communications tied to Trump’s most damaging scandal — the threat appears far from over.
