Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) is facing fierce backlash after calling for President Donald Trump to be handed unlimited power — including a third term in office, which would violate the U.S. Constitution.

In a Saturday post on X (formerly Twitter), Ogles wrote: “Give Trump a third term, give him a Peace Prize, and let him run D.C. as long as he wants.”

The response was swift and unforgiving.

A “Community Note” quickly appeared under his post, reminding readers of the facts: “The 22nd amendment of the constitution says No.”

The 22nd Amendment, ratified in 1951, clearly states that no president can serve more than two terms.

Critics across the political spectrum slammed Ogles for pushing authoritarian rhetoric. Former Bernie Sanders campaign co-chair Nina Turner didn’t mince words.
“He should be removed from Congress,” Turner wrote.

Others accused Ogles of betraying the oath he swore to the Constitution. Legal experts, veterans, and everyday Americans piled on, calling the post dangerous, undemocratic, and outright un-American.

Ogles hasn’t backed down or clarified his statement. But the message he sent — that one man should be above the law, above the Constitution, and in power indefinitely — struck a nerve.

Calls for accountability are growing louder, with some warning that Ogles’s comment isn’t just outrageous — it’s “grounds for removal.”
