Things took a sharp turn on Newsmax Monday when conservative radio host and GOP strategist Andrea Kaye exploded in a tirade over Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny’s Saturday Night Live monologue—labeling him “anti-American” and branding undocumented immigrants as “parasites” in the same breath.
The Grammy-winning artist, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, opened SNL’s 51st season with a bilingual monologue that quickly stirred right-wing outrage. Standing confidently on stage, Ocasio joked in Spanish about the NFL backlash:
“If you didn’t understand what I just said, you have four months to learn,”
he quipped, referencing the time between now and the 2026 Super Bowl, where he’s been tapped to headline the halftime show. The line drew loud applause and laughter from the SNL crowd—but on Newsmax, it ignited fury.
“He’s obviously anti-American with this snide, arrogant, nasty comment: ‘if you didn’t understand what I just said, go learn Spanish,’” Kaye fumed. “That’s a direct attack, I take that personally!”
Host Bianca de la Garza nodded along, as Kaye continued her rant, labeling Bad Bunny “anti-Trump” and “anti-ICE,” and questioning the NFL’s decision to spotlight him at next year’s Super Bowl.
Kaye didn’t stop at the artist. She pivoted to a full-blown diatribe against undocumented immigrants, unleashing a stream of inflammatory rhetoric that echoed the far-right’s most extreme talking points.
“President Trump was elected mainly to secure the border and to deport all of the invaders who came here, the millions of them who came here; worst-case, to rape or pillage; best case, to live off of us as parasites, refusing to assimilate,” she declared. “Not a good move!”
While Kaye has made a name for herself in conservative media as a Trump loyalist and immigration hardliner, the segment was jarring even by Newsmax standards—linking a Super Bowl performer’s multilingual joke to violent border hysteria.
Bad Bunny, for his part, has long been vocal about his political stance. He’s criticized ICE and the Trump administration’s immigration policies in the past and recently stated he would not perform in the mainland U.S. over concerns related to ICE raids.
The NFL, which has faced scrutiny from both sides of the political aisle in recent years, has not commented on the backlash.
