Republican Senator Kevin Cramer, of North Dakota, is facing harsh criticism after announcing his opposition to a bipartisan gun safety bill, saying that he’s “more interested” in winning elections than reducing gun violence.
The modest legislation, which encourages —but does not mandate— states to enact red flag laws, is even supported even by Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. But Cramer can care less about red flags and announced his opposition to the entire Senate bill on Tuesday afternoon.
“I think we’re more interested in the red wave than we are in red flags,” Cramer said, according to CBS News’ Scott MacFarlane.
His announcement was met with disdain from social media users who took to Twitter to express their disgust.
Sen Kevin Cramer (R-ND) re: red flag laws for gun control
“I think we’re more interested in the red wave than we are in red flags. Quite honestly, as Republicans .. and we have a pretty good opportunity to do that”

Power more important than children's lives.
That is a Republican. pic.twitter.com/GzLRAcBGCC

GOP Logic.
Winning elections is more important than saving lives.
Remember this in Nov, folks.

More interested in winning elections than keeping school children from being slaughtered.
Run on that.

Red wave as in blood on their hands from all current and future victims of gun violence?

Translation: If we do anything on guns then we lose voters and we cannot afford to do that with our dwindling base.

Translation: We just want to win elections and hold onto power. We don’t care about doing anything to help anyone.

So they see voting for common sense gun laws as being bad for their re-election. All the more reason to… pic.twitter.com/GHN0hTScMk

Things you say when your guns are more important to you than your kids.
Or when maintaining your privilege is more important than keeping your democracy.

I've repeatedly stated that we need to take note of the fact that Republican leaders are ok with taking actions that harm Americans, if those leaders believe that it can benefit themselves. This is really sick.

He remembers the dead babies in Uvalde and said this? #FTMF

So the Pro-life party is more focused on winning elections? I think once people figure out how many of you really don’t care about them your wave is gonna collapse
