U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi is under pressure to launch a federal investigation into alleged ballot irregularities in the 2024 election.
Republican Representative Abe Hamadeh of Arizona is calling on Bondi to look into claims that an election company—Runbeck Election Services—may have violated protocols while processing ballots in several western states.
Hamadeh pointed to what he called “credible reports” that boxes of blank ballots were mixed with completed mail-in ballots inside a Runbeck warehouse. These ballots, he said, were in the process of being prepared for counting.
“This alarming situation raises serious questions about the security and integrity of the election process in Maricopa County and potentially beyond,” Hamadeh said in a public statement highlighted by Newsweek. “The comingling of blank ballots with live ballots poses a significant risk to the accuracy and fairness of election results.”
No source was given for the claims, and they have not been verified.
Hamadeh’s request comes after the 2024 presidential election, which saw former President Donald Trump defeat Vice President Kamala Harris. Questions about election integrity continue to circulate among voters and lawmakers alike.
Hamadeh asked the Department of Justice to investigate whether proper security procedures were followed at Runbeck’s facilities, the possible impact of any lapses on the vote count, and whether Maricopa County’s election results—or those in other states—were affected.
He also linked his concerns to a separate issue involving China. His office cited FBI Director Kash Patel’s recent handoff of documents to Congress. Those documents reportedly outline an alleged plan involving fake driver’s licenses being used to create fraudulent mail-in ballots—though these claims also remain unproven.
“It is crucial that we have confidence in the integrity of our elections,” Hamadeh said. “Any potential mishandling of ballots must be investigated to ensure that the will of the voters is accurately reflected.”
Pam Bondi’s office has not responded to Hamadeh’s request.
Meanwhile, a court in Rockland County, New York, is moving forward with a separate case challenging the accuracy of local 2024 election results.
