Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted child sex trafficker and longtime associate of Jeffrey Epstein, has been cleared to leave prison on work release, according to newly obtained records.
Podcast host Allison Gill uncovered internal prison documents showing that Maxwell was approved for an “OUT” custody level — a classification that allows her to leave the minimum-security federal prison in Texas where she is serving her sentence.
Maxwell, who was convicted in 2021 for grooming and trafficking underage girls for Epstein, is still officially considered a danger to the public. The records show she was assigned the highest base security score — 7 points — because of her status as a sex offender.
“Despite her score of 27 resulting in a MINIMUM security level, BOP policy does not allow people with a sex offender PSF (Public Safety Factor) to serve their sentences in minimum security facilities. Someone has to waive the PSF to make that move,” Gill wrote.
That waiver appears to have been granted, raising serious questions about how and why the Bureau of Prisons allowed it.
Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) is demanding answers. In a letter to the Bureau’s director, he asked whether Maxwell was receiving “special treatment” following a meeting with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche — who previously served as Donald Trump’s personal attorney. Journalist Adam Klasfeld published details of the senator’s letter.
Gill drew a disturbing comparison to Jeffrey Epstein’s past. Epstein was also allowed out on work release after a secretive deal orchestrated by attorney Alan Dershowitz and signed off by Alex Acosta — who later served in the Trump administration.
Now, Maxwell is following a similar path, even after being convicted of one of the most high-profile sex trafficking cases in U.S. history..
