Valentina Gomez, a Republican congressional candidate in Texas, is drawing national backlash after releasing a disturbing campaign ad where she sets fire to a Quran with a flamethrower and makes violent, anti-Muslim statements.

In the video, Gomez declares: “Your daughters will be r—-, and your sons beheaded unless we stop Islam once and for all.” She adds: “We’re done turning the other cheek. Remember, David didn’t pray for Goliath – he killed him. America is a Christian nation, so those terrorist Muslims can f— off to any of the 57 Muslim nations. There is only one true god, and that is the god of Israel.”

The Quran is the holy book of Islam, followed by nearly two billion people around the world. Gomez’s video has been condemned as hateful and inciting violence.

Originally from Colombia, Gomez moved to the U.S. in 2009 and previously ran for Secretary of State in Missouri, finishing near the bottom with less than 7.5% of the vote. She’s now running for Congress in Texas and using extreme, often violent, language to boost her campaign.

On her fundraising page, she promises to “go after the pedophiles, criminals and corrupt politcans” — with a glaring typo in the word “politicians.”

Gomez is no stranger to controversy. In a past video, she shoots a dummy in the back of the head, calling it a cheaper way to deal with “rapists and murders” than deportation.

Her latest stunt — burning a Quran on camera — has sparked widespread outrage. You can watch the video below:
