Victims of Jeffrey Epstein are speaking out loud and clear, accusing the Justice Department under Trump of protecting rich and powerful men instead of standing with survivors.
One of Epstein’s victims wrote in a court filing Monday, “You protect yourself and your powerful and wealthy ‘friends’ (not enemies) over the victims, why?” The message was a sharp condemnation of how the government is handling secret court files connected to Epstein’s case.
Jeffrey Epstein, a wealthy financier, died in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. He was accused of abusing dozens of underage girls. Years before, Epstein pleaded guilty in Florida to soliciting a minor for prostitution.
Earlier this year, the DOJ and FBI released a memo denying the existence of a “client list” of powerful people tied to Epstein’s crimes. They also confirmed Epstein died by suicide and said no further information should be released. This sparked outrage among the public — including some Trump supporters — who worry the government is hiding key facts.
In response, President Trump asked Attorney General Pam Bondi to “produce any and all pertinent” grand jury testimony related to Epstein, “subject to Court approval.” But a Florida judge rejected the DOJ’s request quickly. The New York case is still under review.
Two Epstein survivors responded in court papers Monday, staying anonymous to protect their privacy.
One wrote directly to Judge Richard Berman: “Dear United States, I wish you would have handled and would handle the whole ‘Epstein Files’ with more respect towards and for the victims. I am not some pawn in your political warfare.”
The victim added: “What you have done and continue to do is eating at me day after day as you help to perpetuate this story indefinitely. Why not be completely transparent? Show us all the files with only the necessary redactions! Be done with it and allow me/us to heal.”
The victim didn’t hold back in accusing Trump’s DOJ of shielding the rich:
“You protect yourself and your powerful and wealthy ‘friends’ (not enemies) over the victims, why? The victims know the truth, we know who are in the files and now so do you.”
Another survivor told the judge: “The latest attention on the ‘Epstein Files’, the ‘Client List’ is OUT OF CONTROL and the ones that are left to suffer are not the high-profile individuals, IT IS THE VICTIMS. Why the lack of concern in handling such sensitive information for the victims sake?”
They also accused the DOJ and FBI of focusing on protecting the wealthy.
“I feel like the DOJ’s and FBI’s priority is protecting the ‘third-party’, the wealthy men by focusing on scrubbing their names off the files of which the victims, ‘know who they are.’”
This victim urged the court to have a neutral third party review any documents before release. The public and victims alike are demanding full transparency in Epstein’s files.
