Drake has announced a hiatus from the music scene, following the release of his latest album, “For All The Dogs.” The Grammy-winning rapper attributed his decision to an ongoing battle with “stomach issues” that have plagued him for years.
“I probably won’t make music for a little bit, I’mma be real with you. I need to focus on my health, first and foremost, Drake said during a recent episode of his SiriusXM show, Table for One. “I’ve been having the craziest problems with my stomach for years. I need to get right, I have a lot of other things I would love to focus on so I’m going to lock the door on the studio for a little bit… Maybe a year or something.”
This isn’t the first time Drake has hinted at a potential break from the music scene. Back in 2017, he shared with the Hollywood Reporter his plans to take “six months or a year to myself and do some great films.”
Despite these previous mentions, Drake surprised fans by releasing the music video for “8AM in Charlotte” on Thursday, featuring heartwarming moments with his 5-year-old son Adonis. The video depicts Drake engaging with Adonis, questioning him about a drawing and playfully exploring whether he deserves the title of the “goat” (Greatest of All Time). Adonis responds with endearing affirmation, dubbing his father as “Daddy Goat.”
Drake says he is taking a break from music for a year or longer to focus on his health and deal with stomach problems:
