Dominion Voting Systems has filed a $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit against former President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani after he pushed the “Big Lie” about voter fraud as he attempted to overturn the election results, CNN reports.
The lawsuit accuses Giuliani of deliberately lying about Dominion, pointing out that while he spread falsehoods about the company being owned by Venezuelan communists and corrupting the election, he did not make those claims in courts under oath out of fear of being sanctioned, disbarred, and even prosecuted.
The voting system company is seeking more than $1.3 billion in damages.
The vote auditing company previously sued lawyer Sidney Powell, who pushed similar claims alongside Giuliani. Legal experts believe Dominion has a strong case against both Powell and Giuliani.
