Actor Kevin Costner is in the middle of a dispute with his estranged wife, Christine, who allegedly refuses to vacate their shared home as Christine reportedly links her departure from the residence to certain financial demands, according to recent court filings in their ongoing divorce case.
As reported by Insider, the couple, who have three children together, are bound by a prenuptial agreement signed in 2004 that stipulates Christine has 30 days to move out once she files for divorce. However, despite filing for divorce on May 1 in Santa Barbara County Court, she has yet to comply with the agreement.
Costner’s legal team, led by Laura Wasser, is seeking court intervention to enforce the terms of the prenup, as Costner’s declaration reveals that he has already paid Christine $1 million as per the prenuptial agreement. Additionally, he has offered her $200,000 for a down payment on a new home and agreed to cover her mortgage, property tax, and insurance for one year.
Furthermore, he has committed to providing $30,000 as part of his child-support obligations, assisting her in securing a rental property, and offering $10,000 for moving expenses. Costner claims that Christine has also withdrawn $95,000 from his bank account or charged it to his credit card for legal and accounting fees without prior notice.
The filing emphasizes that Costner’s previous divorce from his first wife left him without a home, and he was determined not to face a similar situation again. It also mentions that the couple has tentatively agreed to shared custody, with Costner covering all expenses for their children and negotiating a summer visitation schedule for the teenagers.
While the divorce was filed in May citing irreconcilable differences after 18 years of marriage, Costner’s representative denied rumors of infidelity on the set of Yellowstone. Attorneys for both Costner and Christine have not yet provided a comment on the matter.
Outside of the divorce proceedings, Kevin Costner boasts an impressive real estate portfolio, including properties in Carpinteria, Ventura, Los Angeles, and a ranch in Aspen, Colorado.
