President Donald Trump erupted on social media after Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) mentioned the Obama-era Iran nuclear deal in a Fox News interview.
Coons told Fox News Sunday that Trump appeared to be “moving towards negotiation offering around a deal that looks somewhat similar to the Iran deal,” referring to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) brokered by President Barack Obama. Trump famously pulled the U.S. out of that agreement in 2018.
That was all it took for Trump to blow up online.
In an early Monday post on Truth Social, Trump denied everything and ripped into Coons, Obama, and the Iran deal all at once. He also repeated his claim that recent U.S. attacks on Iranian nuclear sites had destroyed their capabilities completely.
“Tell phony Democrat Senator Chris Coons that I am not offering Iran ANYTHING, unlike Obama, who paid them $Billions under the stupid ‘road to a Nuclear Weapon JCPOA (which would now be expired!),’” Trump wrote. “Nor am I even talking to them since we totally OBLITERATED their Nuclear Facilities.”

Over the weekend, Trump also fired off a sharp message to Israeli leaders about the Gaza war: “MAKE THE DEAL IN GAZA. GET THE HOSTAGES BACK!!”
The president’s rage screams one truth: he refuses any side-by-side with Obama that makes him look bad.
