A Delta Airlines flight originally bound from Detroit to Amsterdam was redirected to New York’s JFK Airport following reports of spoiled food served to passengers, according to airline officials.
Delta Airlines flight 136, initially scheduled from Detroit to Amsterdam, underwent an emergency landing after reports of tainted in-flight meal service. The aircraft diverted to JFK airport once the compromised food was identified during its flight over Saint Pierre and Miquelon.
Upon landing, medical personnel attended to 14 passengers and 10 crew members out of the 277 onboard, although none required hospitalization, as stated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which oversees JFK Airport.
It was not clear how many people in total ate the spoiled food.
Virginia, a passenger impacted by the incident, took to Twitter to voice her concerns directly to Delta Airlines. The airline responded with a statement expressing apologies and launching an investigation into the matter.
Delta Airlines expressed regret for the disruption caused to passengers’ travel plans, emphasizing that such incidents do not align with their usual standards of service. The airline assured that affected passengers would receive accommodation and rebooking to reach their final destinations.
